Antiques
As with any other classic casino game equipment – or for any old pieces of furniture for that matter – there is a market for antique roulette tables. And not just tables – online shoppers can bid on antique roulette charms, pendants, and earrings. One site was even offering a vintage Las Vegas roulette ash tray for the sum of $75.
Even modest vintage roulette tables can fetch a high price. Above that, many of these old tables no longer are in condition for play. In particular, the number slots get worn and the wheel gets out of balance. Any piece of furniture that bears the wear and tear as a roulette table and all the excitement and action happening around it is going to absorb punishment.
Collectible Memorabilia
When most folks these days want to find cheap collectible stuff, they go to eBay or one of the other online auction sites. If you are looking for vintage roulette wheels, they can be found but “cheap” usually is not part of the deal. On a recent search of the site, there was one antique wooden roulette wheel – just the wheel, not the table – that was offered for a “buy it now” price of only $6,499.
Other vintage roulette equipment can be had for less. There is more than one Las Vegas roulette ash tray – an ash tray with a roulette wheel that works. There also are rare Monte Carlo roulette-themed post cards and other “souvenir” items for much less than $100. One more common items can be found on line are authentic Las Vegas casino betting chips. Also available are felt betting layouts and other vintage items, such as towels and rugs with the betting layout printed on them.
Tables
If, however, it is a complete roulette table being sought, do not expect much of a bargain. Most of the tables offered for sale on line are neither vintage nor professional. There are a number of combination gaming tables available in the $150 to $300 range, but most serious gamblers would not want to place a real bet on them. The few nicer ones are in the range of $1,000 and up and are more for display than play.
Aside from antiques, a decent table can be had for approximately $4,000, but that does not include the wheel. A combination idea would be to purchase a commercially available table and pair it with a vintage wooden wheel. Also remember that some “tables” being sold do not include the base, or legs. The right style of legs also is important since there is a lot of leaning and pushing that goes on around the table, and the ball needs a flat, solid foundation on which to spin. |
